I know this topic is about beat to death but. I want to build a rack system i want more BP's but dont have room for each one to have thier own tank. I was thinking of using 15QT storage boxes the dimensions are 17"L x 11 1/8"W x 6 3/8"H is this big enough for a adult BP.
My next choice is a 32QT the dimensions on that are 23 1/2"L x 16 1/4"W x 6 3/8"H is this large enough.
When Breeding season comes around i want to use the 32QT for breeding and the 15QT for individual housing. If anyone has any links or pictures about how to build a rack system that would be greatly appreciated too.

I can't quote what the ideal sizes would be...but I can tell you for sure that the 15qt is waayyy too small. That's not even a foot-and-a-half long. Can you imagine a 5 foot, chunky bp squeezing into it? Even if it seemed a "comfortable" fit, there would not be enough room at all for thermal regulation.

Even the 32qt seems too small to me, but I haven't yet looked into ideal sizes for keeping many snakes in a small area. I am fairly certain that it would be too small for two adults to share for any length of time, even for the purposes of breeding...but maybe someone with more experience will show otherwise.

Easy rule of thumb: snakelength + ~1 ft = floorspace. So if you're housing an adult male bp at 4', you need 5' of floorspace. Rough estimates of those you're looking at are 1.5x1=1.5 sq ft, sufficient for a hatchling, and 2x1.5=3 sq ft of floorspace, sufficient for a juvie. The 74 qt underbed box should be sufficient for an adult bp, though I personally would rather provide a little more height, something in the neighborhood of 8"-10".

Rubbermaid makes one that is 9 x 39 x 16.25 in is this ok for adults.

I would take Marlas advice. I think that a smaller height would make an adult BP feel more secure since they do not like to climb as much as the juvies do.

Assuming the "9" is the dimension for height, then you're still only looking at a hair over 4 square feet of floor space...which would only be suitable for a 3 foot long adult, at best. If you put the numbers in the right order and the height is 16.25, then it is only 2.5 square feet and still wayyy too small for an adult bp.

Assuming you mean 9"high 39"long 16.25"wide I would say is sufficient for a full grown BP. Here is a quote from NERDs BP care sheet:

Fortunately adult ball pythons do not require exceptionally large or elaborate enclosures. A 36" x 18" x 12" enclosure will more than comfortably house an adult ball python

I think youll do fine with that rubbermaid.
