lots of time in water

Hey guys, i just got my new baby ball today and he has spent a lot of time in his water bowl. my immediate concern is mites obviously, but looking at him i see no mites on his body. could it just be that he is acting strange because he is in a new home?(hes also been "yawning" occasionally)

Check the water, there will be tiny dots that would obviously be mites...if not maybe he just likes water ....also mine yawn too....sometimes it's too re align their jaws and sometimes there's no apparent reason....unless its super frequent it shouldnt be anything to worry about though!

im looking at the water and cant see anything except for a couple bits of moss that fell into it, so maybe he just enjoys bathing lol

When did he start doing this? If it's just started, he's probably just feeling hot, or needed hydration, etc.

well i just got him today(just a baby), so as far as i know it just started when i put him in his new tank today

What size tank is it in, and how many hides are in in?

Sometimes a snake will hide in the water thinking it is hiding. It may just need time to adjust to the new home.

The other thing that comes to mind is the tank may be to warm and it is trying to cool off.

It's a 10 gallon tank since he is still quite small, i have two hides, and the readings right now in it are 90 on the hot side, 85 on the cool side, and 59% humidity. i want to post a picture but cant figure out how to do so

My instant reaction would be mites, about to shed or the tank is too hot. Does he ever go into the hide on the hot spot? If he never goes into it, there is a good chance the tank is too hot or the humidity is too low. It generally isn't horrible if they soak lot, but it can mss up their skin to constantly soak. Just keep an eye out for it. Put another hide in the tank on the cool side and see if the stops soaking and uses that hide instead.
