    Are they usually like this?

I keep reading how everyone's boas come right up to them when they walk up to their enclosure, and are always out watching you or wanting to be held... Mine isn't like that. She's almost always in her hide or right next to it, except to drink. She is not aggressive at all, and acts like I am trying to kill her when I go to put her back in her cage after I am done holding her but she just doesn't seem like the "give me attention now!" boa that everyone describes. Is this just because she is relatively new (got her exactly a month ago), or because she is still small (130g), or do other boas also have this same personality? Just curious

My Hog keeps to herself, she doesn't like to be messed with much and she shows it when she starts open mouth hissing.
My albino is pretty inquisitive but can also be seen in her hides or fake plants and keeping to herself.
My biggest boa, a jungle male, is very in your face and is a ham: he always seems to be "looking" for attention.
My hypo girl is always looking around too and will look up when her tub is opened to see what's going on.
My two Argentines are so far very inquisitive as well, but they won't shoot over across their tubs to see me either.
    Depends on the individual snake

Mine doesn't cruise around much. He can usually be found in the back corner by his fake plant. When the top comes off though he is always looking to see who's coming in, or what's going on. He is a complete twirp to put back though. He does seem to enjoy being out. Never grumpy, always curious.

Re: Are they usually like this?

Rex usually likes to lay by the mesh on his cage when he's active,or put his head by the door. He hates when I try to put him back in his cage, and usually wraps around my ankle.. quick question, does anyone have a red tail that exhales loudly? It sounds like a quiet hiss, but he does it once in every few breaths, and has done it for almost 2 weeks, thought it was an RI symptom, but he has nothing else going on,no wheezing, just a loud exhale..

None of mine come right up and/or out of their tubs and beg to be held. All of them do seem to enjoy being handled, but they don't "ask" for it. They are all fairly shy in their enclosures and tend to be somewhat private. And all of them use their hides regularly.

But once out, they love it. My Peaches will hang out on my shoulders for hours at a time. And the boys are curious about EVERYthing. The Argentines will sometime puff and bluff when disturbed, but they are both puppies once they come out. And every one of them is a pain in the butt going back in their enclosures. That is truly a boa thing - they will fight you going back in every time.

I've found that the older boas get, the less frequently they use their hides. So a 130gm baby is probably still pretty shy and will want to stay hidden to feel secure. She should be fine in your hands though.

@Fester_Fang - Boas will often "sigh". That is another boa trait.

My female Hog Island is in bulk up for breeding mode. Leave her be and feed her regularly. My Argentine is inquisitive. Most of them just want to be left alone to do their thing. They all seem to enjoy being out, except for the ones in breeding mode.
