This Year Has Really Sucked For My Pets :(

This year I've lost way too many pets

First was Zoey, who got run over. She died in our arms when she was barely a year old. She was the most energetic and loving dog that I've ever known

Then in the same week Shotzi got killed by a brown recluse spider. She was over 12 years old and was a great dog that we enjoyed our time with for many years

While I was on vacation in South Carolina for my birthday my dad found Henrietta dead in her tub. I don't know what happened to her but I only had her for less than a month, and none of the other reptiles in QT were affected. We didn't get a necropsy done because we couldn't afford it and the breeder wasn't offering anything but a discount on another snake. Even though I only had her for a short time, she had quickly become my favorite snake, and I really miss her

Then one of my leopard geckos died from Crypto, and we had to get his mate euthanized. The baby they had together was born premature and wouldn't eat. I'm keeping his other mates under very strict QT. One has lost ten grams, but she seems to be recovering as she has gained back 5, the other I'm getting tested because she shows no symptoms and was only with the male for a day, and that was before he was with the others

Re: This Year Has Really Sucked For My Pets :(

I am so sorry to hear this. I know you said it sucked for your pets but in a way I think it kinda sucks for you too. Loosing our animals is not fun at all and can be quite upsetting and sad.
Sorry to hear this. Did you guys discover why Henrietta died or is it still a mystery?

Damn I'm so sorry for all your losses. I've had a turtle die on me in the past that I had for years so I know how must feel.

Thanks guys. We couldn't figure out what happened to Henrietta, and the breeder never offered to help with the cost of a necropsy or even to send a replacement snake. As far as we could tell it was either a freak accident or something she already had before we got her, because the other snakes in the closet were and still are healthy.

The one that affected me the most was Ash. Even though I did everything I possibly could for him, he still didn't make it. I was force feeding him to try to get a sample to the vet but he passed in his sleep before we could. We only found out it was Crypto after we took his mate that had started to show the same syptoms to the vet, where we had her put down so that she wouldn't suffer. Their baby didn't even have a chance because he was so small. I threw out all of the eggs they had because I didn't want the same thing to happen to them.
