was told i was given a yellow belly?

last night we responded to a free ball python ad without knowing age or size or type (hey who can resist a free friend?) when we arrived, we were told that the little thing was het ivory. from what i can tell (i'm really new at this) i have a possible yellow belly. just looking for confirmation.

it's a bad belly shot, but i can't get it to sit still no matter what time of day.

Definitely does not look like a yellowbelly to me, it does have a cool pattern though.

Re: was told i was given a yellow belly?

i'm going to sound like a complete noob here (probably because i am) but, are the lighter spots in the dark color on the back and the blushing up the sides (flames?) a common occurrence in regular types?

can you breed normals to enhance those traits? i understand that's how traits are enhanced in other types of animals, wasn't sure if it applied to snakes as well. and if yes, how long does it usually take to get a desired trait?

Just like a reduced pattern and blushing, it can be repeated in offspring but it's not 100%.

awesome. thank you very much for all the info and for identifying as a normal. from everything i've seen, yellow bellies are the hardest for me to distinguish. i've even looked at the hunters guide and i'm still confused! lol.

Yellowbellies and fires are tough, especially since some of the "identifiers" for them are also common with other morphs and normals. A yellowbelly belly and head stamp would be your best way to identify. Your normal has a very pretty blushed head, but the head stamp is usually very distinguishable, however I've seen normals with weird head stamps as well! Oh the joys of ball pythons

Here's one of my yellowbellies head stamp
