My little cresties are here! They actually arrived about an hour ago but I've been pounding away on a project at work and didn't have a chance to post this til now. I will take pics later so you can see just how darn cute these tiny guys are. I understand their colors can change with age, time of day, health, and shed cycle, but for right now it looks like I have a dark green one with an orange crest and an orange or rust fire morph. The little green one has been especially attentive to me as he sits on my desk watching me.

David, I can't promise great pics because I don't have a great camera and they are so little! I'll definitely do what I can, though. Any suggestions regarding method or content of first feeding attempt? I have crested gecko diet, crickets in a variety of sizes, vitamins and calcium, and baby food peaches, apricots, bananas, and turkey. I also don't know whether to try to hold them to feed them (I've heard some hand-feed), try to hand feed inside their enclosure, put a dish in the enclosure, or what. I don't want to stress them out any more than I have to.

Babies need to be on a 80% insect diet.....with fruit flavored baby food mixed with the gecko diet (50/50 mix) once a week for optimal growth. If you are using a loose substrate it is essential that you feed your gecko from a bowl so that the crickets do not escape and your gecko won't ingest any loose bits of substrate. Personally I used paper towels and it works just fine. I doubt you'll be able to get a baby to feed from your hand so a shallow dish for the baby food/gecko diet is necessary. Don't forget to mix in calcium/vitamin supplements 1-2 times a week.

Reducing picture size using XNView
How high/far can crickets 1/4" long jump? I don't want them all over the house.

lol, I definitely understand that. You've got something to keep the crickets in right? What I meant by feeding them in a bowel is just putting a bowl that is deep enough that the crickets can't crawl out inside the gecko's cage and letting them eat from the bowel.

But how deep a bowl is that? That's what I'm trying to figure out, is how deep does it need to be to keep the crickets in the cage?

Not real deep....I'd say an inch or 2 in height....crickets aren't the brightest of creatures and generaly don't try and jump out of a container......they just wander the sides, lol.

OK, then they should be okay inside the deli cup inside the litter box inside the cage then I guess.
