    Contacting breeders

In your opinion, what is a good time frame to wait before emailing a second time? I know breeders are crazy busy, especially right now with all the hatchlings etc. I just don't want to be a pest
So, how long do you wait if you don't hear back from a breeder? 1 week? 2? a day? I really have no idea. I'm super antsy and check my email way way too often...so what do normal people do? heh

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, wasn't sure where this would fit well.

    Re: Contacting breeders

I've e-mailed the Sloan Brothers, Mark Mandic (from Markus Jayne), BHB, NERD, VPI, Kobylka and probably a couple others that I'm not remembering.

They all got back to me within 5 days, and this was the week of the Daytona show.

And I guess I'll use this opportunity to brag on Markus again. That dude will e-mail you back pretty much the same day even if you just have random questions for him. My book, he's awesome.

Depends on the size of the breeder imo. But I would say a week is too long for a breeder to not check their email. I realize huge breeders like NERD and BHB probably get tons of emails but it shouldnt take them longer than 3-5 days to respond. (in my opinion).

Even Vin Russo and Ralph Davis always get back to me within a couple days at most. A week is way too long unless they have a good excuse. Like on vacation or family emergency.

Thanks for the input. It hasn't been a week yet, today is day 5. I'm sure they've been busy etc, and it wasn't in response to an ad or anything. Just trying to see if they have an available list or price list or something. If I haven't heard by tomorrow I'll shoot em another email.

    Re: Contacting breeders

I usually send a second email after two days, just in case it went to spam, got lost in cyberspace, or it was read and "meant to get back to then stuff happened". If I haven't heard back by the following week, I either call (if I REAAALLYYY want that specific snake), or write it off as business they don't want. Now, if it was just an email asking for information (not previous or future purchase-related), I'm happy to get a response in a week or two.

Depends on contact method. I'm a smaller breeder & w/n 48hrs is doable for me. But then most of my contacts are FB, or texts with a few-emails. 5 days is reasonable for someone with more volume.

Depends on the breeder, small breeders tend to answer much faster, as far as you and how long to wait well it depends on how pressing the matter is, if it's about an animal that you REALLY want to get you might want to call the breeder.

I emailed ralph davis about the size water bowls he uses, he responded in like 8 hours. every breeder is different, and not to mention email is not always to best way of communication. i would email them back on day 6 and send it again.

It wasn't a pressing matter at all really, was just curious as to what they had available and their prices. They are a fairly big breeder, not huge, but not small. I'm not terribly worried about it, I was just concerned about being a pest.

Ralph has always answered my emails within about 12hrs max. Usually less.
    Nerd answered rather swiftly aswell.
    Liesen was about 24hrs ish
Amir was, I think, 2 days. But he was prepping for HAMM, so I wasn't expecting a swift reply in the first place Plus he answered my second reply within minutes, so..bonus

Honestly I've got to say, most people I've spoken with have been very "on it" for replies etc.
This breeder is probably busy, or my mail went to spam. I still luv them, no biggie
