Okay this is a bit in advance but it is of course on its way to spring. So the question is - How would you cool a snake in the summer? Lets say your A/C goes out (worst case scenario) how would you go about making sure your snake doesn't overheat?

hang a wet shirt or somethin in the cage. im just makin this up...but thats somethin i would try. a shirt or rag soaked with cold water.
when i read the question what came to my mind was:
before people had air conditioning over here in the south-west, they would hang damp sheets around their patios and sleep outside at night. i think im talkin about like 100 years ago. so ya. haha....just in case you care.

If the AC goes out, I'd probably move my snakes to my office, personally. If that weren't an option, then either a fan blowing over ice or move them to a well-ventilated container in the yard in the shade where they could catch a breeze. Either of those is obviously a short-term solution, tho.

id put them in the basement-its always cool there-theyd probably need extra heat still.

Also swap out your water bowl more frequently - use more and cooler water (it WILL heat up). Might just shave off a few degrees but every bit helps. We are in the same boat - no A/C (although we have a window unit for the basement where half the snakes are) and get some unusually nasty hot and humid summers considering we are in mountains/hills.
Also you could jack your enclosure further up off the heating pad (if you use one or will in the summer) and with no A/C likely wind up turning it off. As always monitor monitor monitor them temps.

Cold water, ice packs wraped in blankets, fanning, ect. I'd say they'd be fine up to 110. Doubtful you'd ever experience that in your house.
