High temperatures, whats going faulty?

Okay, so I just cleaned my BP's cage and before that the hot side temperatures were running a little high (95). I saw it bump up to 96 so I brought down the thermostat to 93. Now, after I cleaned it, everything is set to what it was, and after everything heated up, im getting readings on my accurite that say 97! So I brought down the thermostat to 88 so I could ask you guys whats up. What's going on with this?

Is your thermostat probe secured down improperly?
Most people use tape and if taped down incorrectly, it will trap heat. That will be the most common reason for improper reading and heating.
You want the probe taped down at the wire and at the very tip of the probe itself. Covering the entire probe will lead to trapped heat.

I second checking your probe. Mine is taped down, then taped above the probe, then taped above that. A pulled probe is probably one of the most common issues with tubs getting too hot.

My thermostat probe is stuck inbetween the UTH and the tub itself. The thermometer probe is under all of the substrate in the cage over the middle of the UTH.

Could be your thermometer. I have 2 acurites that read 3 degrees high. This is the reason I use a temp gun.
