A simple point and shoot can take brilliant photos.
In response to someone asking if theirs was a DSLR; if the lens comes off and can be changed, and it is digital then it is a DSLR.
If it is warm enough outside then don't bother with a light tent, just use some white cardboard or other suitable backdrop and shoot in the shade on a bright day; this will avoid the shadows you often see with a light tent which isn't tweaked properly with the lighting. You also often see bright spots and dark spots with incorrect lighting. Outdoor shade shots will be clear and smooth. I will post a photo shoot next month when I have time showing the differences.
You can even get really good photos with a suitable cellphone, unfortunately not with my crappy blackberry though

Yeah, it might happen this weekend. I was reading the light tent thread over again today. Went so far as to make a list of what I need. Just gotta find time to hit Lowes, and the fabric store.....
