Question about breeding albino BP's
I am a new Ball Python owner. I got my first normal ball about 2 months ago. Sheldon is doing great, his weight is up from 80 grams when I purchased him to about 130 grams today. He has never turned down a meal and has never so much as hissed at me. But anyway, I don't plan on breeding in the near future if at all, I just was reading through the genetics sticky in the genetics forum and had a question. Some of the examples they have included breeding an Albino Dam with a Normal Sire to get all Het-Albino Offspring. Another was breeding 2 Het-Albinos to get 50% Normal, 25% Het-Albino, 25% Albino. My question is, can't you breed 2 albinos to get 100% albino offspring, is that possible? I know sometimes some morphs are fatal and was wondering how does one know what will produce healthy offspring and what leads to the offspring not survivng?

If you breed 2 visual albinos the result will be All visual Albinos.

It would be the same with breeding 2 super pastels together (homozygous Co-dominate morph)

Re: Question about breeding albino BP's
Het to a Het produces Possible hets 66% if i remember correctly. No guarantee that the offspring carry the genes..

Any recessive to the same recessive or super to the same super will produce all visuals in recessives and all supers in the super forms
Clown x clown = 100% clowns
Super pastel x super pastel = 100% super pastel
Just to reiterate.

This video (2 parts) goes over most of the morph combos that shouldn't be produced.
Basically if you are breeding a combo that has been produced before chances are you will be able to find out (google search or here on BP.net) if it will end badly or not. If you are breeding a new combo it is impossible to tell for sure. All you can go by is how the morphs that you are pairing do when combined to others.
Keep in mind that ANY pairing has the potential to produce animals that are deformed or fail to thrive. It is something that all animal breeders need to be prepaired for.
