    "Emergency" at the lake

My girlfriend and I took the kids to a lake at a state park in VA today. At one point, the lifeguards evacuated the lake... there was a snake in the water (gasp)! You should have seen people run. The cause for alarm? A water snake, about 12 inches long (head in palms).

My favorite part was my girlfriend yelling to let me know as she was running towards the snake (as one lady was heard saying "usually people run from snakes"). And how much all of the kids wanted to see it. The ranger was great and made sure everyone got to see the little guy.
