    Great shed but quick question.

We had our 2nd shed here a week ago. It was I guess what I'd call a perfect shed. Eye caps, tail and everything in one nice package.

My question is this. I have noticed the tail area after the vent on the belly side is yellowish now and not quite as white as the rest of the under body. She's a normal, but some of her coloring has changed on this shed (more yellows top and sides) but the area below the vent seems to have a distinct darker underside color is this normal?

Again, FULL and inspected shed. Eating great, with all husbandry dialed in.

Sorry no pics and it's nothing like rotten skin just a change I noticed.

    Thoughts??

Without pictures it is hard to offer an explanation, but as reptiles shed they can and will change colour. Some extreme, some very minor, but it does happen.

Yep, I guess without pictures its hard to grasp. I thought maybe below the vent on the belly was something common so figured i'd toss it out there. Nothing concerning, just curious. Thanks.

Doesn't sound like anything to be concerned about at this point. Just keep a close eye on it to make sure that it doesn't turn into anything.

Hey Aaron, good to hear from you. I actually checked some of my BP books and noticed that the tail below the vent (under belly side) was not as bright on the snakes in the book either, and I think its maybe just a characteristic of the snake.

She's really growing. We measured her today and she was 30.5". Just a few weeks ago she was 29".

It's good to be back online for a change... I've been working/traveling for work like crazy lately.

Well, it's good to have you back! You give out a lot of good advice here to us newbies. My latest quest is red tail boas. It may never happen, but I'm enjoying the research.

Hope you and your reptile gang are doing well and you get some rest from work.

    Cheers,

    Gio
