We had the coolest experience this week. My wife, kids and I were camping near Ithaca, NY this past weekend. Monday we were swimming at Robert Treman State park. We noticed a small garter snake crawling around the rocks about 15-20 ft from us. We didn't think anything of it. A few minutes later we saw him only 2 ft from my wife with one leg of a large for in his mouth. My wife quickly left the area. He kids and I watched in amazement as the snake struggled to get the frog down. It took more than 30 minutes but he finally did it. Such a cool experience. The bad part was having to keep some of the other onlooking kids from bothering the snake. Some even wanted to poke it with sticks or throw rocks at it. I was annoyed at how their parents did nothing to take advantage of such a wonder teaching experience.
