Poor thing!!

So Indy's been acting like a normal ball python, she hides in the warm hide during the day then at night she comes out to wander around a bit, and she was climbing on the ambient temp thermometer and I looked at her she saw me and lost her grip- Plopped into the water bowl.. I hope she's okay.. Poor indy
Does this happen alot?

Are you using a stick on thermometer? If so. alot of folks on the forum state they are not very accurate. But even worse as the snake climbs on it more, it will likely get pulled off. When this happens the adhesive can stick to the snake and cause injury. I have seen this first hand and the result was that scales were pulled off the snake.

If you are using one then I would recommend getting rid of it and get yourself an Accurite Indoor/Outdoor thermometer. You can pick them up at Walmart for about $12 to $13.

Agreed, those stick on thermometers are garbage. They are not very accurate. Definately pick up an accurite from Walmart. They measure two temp zones, and humidity, all for about $12.

Wow, you guys still have that model of indoor/outdoor thermometer in your wal-marts? I haven't seen it for at least a couple years in all the wal-marts I've been in (Two in Oregon, two in Washington, one in Idaho)... thank goodness for a temp gun. They had a cheap digital hygrometer of the same brand, though.

Oh no, definitley not! It's a fluker's digital thermometer/hydrometer to measure ambient temp. It's velcroed on, but it was leaning over, making a ledge.

The heat pad is at 94º.

Young BPs tend to climb more than older ones. A short fall like shouldn't cause much harm. I think you'll find that as your snake puts on size and weight, that the climbing will become less of a problem.

Tell that to my snake , he's 1250 grams and tries to climb on his little suction cupped on plants. He has even managed to wrap himself around a round hygrometer velcroed on the glass. He tends to have a roaming climbing session the day or so before feeding day. I just accept that he's weird.
