So I have been writing down my bps weights and when they eat and how much because I do plan on breeding one day and just for general knowledge in case one gets sick. Anyways, I am just curious as to what everyone documents on their snakes, if anything, and your method. Do you document each snakes whole life, just during breeding, or not at all?

I have a yearly planner that I write each snake's feedings (what size feeder and what type of feeder), sheds, bowel movements, and monthly weights plus any little notes I feel I should document. I keep all sales receipts, vet recipients, and breeder/seller cards and contact info in there too.

I use Excel to set up a data table that has all the information of the snake down to who produced it. I track their meals and the dates I feed. If they refuse I mark DNE for did not eat. I track their weights monthly. I note everything. I note when they go into shed, when they shed and how well it was shed (99% of the time they have perfect sheds). I note when their water is changed. You name it I note it. Thats just me though.... Maybe a bit OCD.

I may not be as extensive as the others, but I note the follow:
hatch date (if I have it)
parents (if I have it because I register my corn snakes)
purchase date
age
morph
base weight
genetics (if I know them and include all hets)
day they were fed and if they refused
the size, amount, type, and weight of their prey item
when they shed
their weights each day they eat (so it's all standardized)

Now, I haven't begun breeding yet, but I plan to document the following (I already have a chart made up):
For the mother and the father, I include their names, species, morphs, genetics, weights at the time of introduction, the date they were introduced/seperated, and the days I see copulation
For the clutches, I will be recording the clutch number (I plan on numbering them to keep track), day the clutch was laid, as well as how many eggs (fertile and slugs)
For the babies, I will be recording their hatch date, morph, weight and gender.

Then...all the babies will be put into my excel sheet so I can monitor their weight gain, sheds, measl, etc.

I not when they eat, when they shed, and what they weigh whenever i weigh them. I just started doing this. Now tht im up to 7 its too hard to just keep it all mentally lol.
