Since my female normal has been growing quite rapidly I decided to start her on larger prey, so I made the switch to rats. She had no problems with dispatching and eating the small rats I have fed her. She acts a little intimidated when the rat runs up in her face and starts sniffing her, but any really fast motions seem to startle her anyways.
There was a 3 week break between the 1st and 2nd rat, but I think she was probably just really full from the first one. She ate last saturday, so today I will offer her another, but I really don't expect her to eat.
I'm just glad she switched with no problems. I've heard stories about people having major problems getting ther BP's to switch to rats, and sometimes not taking them at all after being fed mice for so long.
Now, as long as I don't have another incident with rats escaping and making a home in the insulation of my oven I will be all good. Does anyone have any idea how hard it is to take apart an oven to extract rats when they dont want you to pick them up? My girlfriend got bit 4 times by one of the little bastards!
