My new pal came in today, his name is Lucifer.
I bought my first ever ball python (ignore how my signature says I have two ball pythons, the pastel is currently on hold until it can be shipped). He is a 100 percent Het albino, purchased from Edens Reptiles. Hes a little snappy, because he struck at me once when I was getting him out of his shipping box to put in my rack, and I took him out for a minute to get this photos, and he was huffing and puffing, all that hissing nonsense, and striking. haha. Well here he is:]

They said he was eating small live rats, he seems veeeeeeeeeeery small to be eating that, Im guessing they meant small as in fuzzies or something. You tell me what he can eat, here is a photo of him (getting ready to strike) next to a quarter for a scale:

Feed either rat or mouse that is the size of the snakes thickest section. Probably a mouse hopper or a rat fuzzy.

Im going to to try to switch him to frozen rats instead of live since hes still pretty young. Any tips on how to do that? I had one person tell just keep dangling it in front of it and tap its nose with it. How does that sound?

First you should let it settle in for atleast 5-7 days during this time do not handle it. Then switching it to f/t. I Put the frozen feeder in a zip bag and thaw it in hot water from the tap. Once thawed I use tongs to dangle the feeder by it's tail. I usually dangle it just outside the hide it's in and then move away and let it come out to it. Mine switched with no problems. You can twitch it alittle but I would refrain from hitting it on the noise with it. If it wants it, it will get it.

Yeah, hitting them with it seems to turn them off more than anything. Definately let him settle in. How much does he weigh? Maybe a rat fuzz or pup?

Yeah I know to let them settle in, Ive owned quiet a few snakes in my life lol, not to sound smart or anything though. But I am still waiting on my scale to come in the mail, but based on what I was told by Edens Reptiles, he is around 250-300 grams I think.
