Look what the cat dragged in (not dead, I promise)

My grandmother's cat brought this little animal to her last night. It was shivering and didn't look like it was going to make it, but we (my mom, dad, and I) put it in a kennel in our garage with a couple towels to warm it up and it seems to be doing better. We figured we would find it dead in the morning, but other than an injured back leg it seems to be doing fine. Mom's looking into wildlife rescue programs around here, but if we don't find one close enough we will just release it and hope it survives. Not much else we can do if a program isn't near by.

Edit: Realized I didn't put what it is. It is a Long-Tailed Weasel.

It's dragging its back leg and we're afraid it could be broken. Looks like someone is going to meet us halfway to a rescue organization so we don't have to drive all the way there.

The guy who does the driving to pick up animals is volunteering with a meals on wheels right now and will be in in a couple hours. At that time we will arrange a meeting place for it. Thanks for the links, though, if something doesn't go right with this one. :D

Good job! It's always nice when you see/hear about kind people who still genuinely care about animals and the world around them.
    Herps are cool.

One of the attractions of outdoor pursuits activities for many people is that life is reduced to the barest essentials, and in the process a more intimate connection to the natural world is established. Food that would be trashed or fed to the dog at home tastes wonderful, a cup of murky water is much appreciated, and after a few days, even a thin sleeping pad can feel like a comfortable mattress as tired bones are able to rest after a hard day's work.

Dang, that thing is cuter than all git out! Not your typical rodent/lizard that the cat dragged in. Hope it makes it.
