I don't get why everyone seems to think it's a rock. It's grey and round, thats it. It's a type of Pyura, not even close to a rock.

So do a lot of life forms, but I would think when most people see it sliced open and the inside of it does not look like rock, it might give them pause.
Plus it says right in the article Mason linked what it is...

Maybe because it's easier to just say it's a living/bleeding rock over, "that's a Pyura chilensis right there!" I don't think I can even pronounce that correctly lol
