Will duct tape harm my Snake?
I was going to use a plastic container for a snake but it was clear and it wasn't very dark so i covered it with duct tape and was wondering if it was safe?

Nope youll be fine. As long as its on the outside. Also make sure there are air holes if necessary.

NO NO NO NO!!! No offence mike but DO NOT USE DUCT TAPE ANYWHERE ON THE INSIDE OF THE SNAKES HOUSE. It sticks to their scales and is very difficult to remove. If they struggle it can rip scales off and gives bacteria a good entrance into the snake and that can cause even more problems. Its one of those prevent problems before they start things. You may not have problems, but if you do they can be very bad. Here is a thread for somewhere else to let you know what can happen.

I would strongly advise against it. IMHO
You can do other things to darken hides like spray paint with a clear outer coat, or make some clay ones with that clay that you bake and it gets hard. There is a thread about how to make home made hides.

Maybe if you read everything that Mike actually said, you would see that he did indeed specify OUTSIDE, not inside.

I agree with Mike though, OP. As long as it is on the outside and has proper air holes, you should be fine.

LOL Wana know something stupid I did. There is a thread about not reading the whole thing and I said I hated it. LOL GUILTY!!! So in closing, I do agree with Mike, it is ok to use duct tape on the outside of the enclosure. I thought the OP was talking about the outside of a hide. My mistake everybody!!!

I would not put any kind of tape or anything sticky anywhere that the snake can come in contact with it. Its a bad idea

Even if it is on the outside, your snake still has a chance to come into contact with it while you are taking it out or putting it back in.

Honestly, if you're a careful & responsible owner you would pay enough attention & there would be no problem.
