Sometime overnight, Lucifer, the Prince of Darkness, possessed my sweet, shy little Pteri! I awoke this morning to find Lucifer greeting me with the standard "I'll kill you the first chance I get!" pose:

Of course, intimidated, I immediately took some better pics!

Sorry about the reconstituted crickets and hard water stains on the inside of the CritterKeeper. If anyone wants to volunteer to come over and clean the inside of the cage, just let me know! The guys in white coats will be right over to pick you up!!!!
Poor Pteri! Replaced by the Prince of Darkness, in all his glory!

Spooky! This Bad Boy moves like a freakin' hurricane, too! He was going nuts, striking in front of himself as I picked up his cage! He took a couple laps around it, too. I am truly in awe!

    Thanks again, Marcus!!!!!!

    Wow Randy!

    Pteri got B I G!

That's great. This species is a lot of fun (and challenging)!

If you ever decide you'd like another tarantula (maybe another species) let me know!

Those are some cool pics Randy! What kind of Tarantula is it? Sorry for the ignorance, lol; but you will NEVER find a spider in this house that I bought as a pet! LOL....

    Awesome pictures, though.

I believe that is some sort of Baboon Spider.....very nice looking, but aggressive tarantulas.

Those are pretty cool looking Randy. Reminds me of some of the scenes in the movie Eight Legged Freaks.

    More questions

yeah I wanted one for long while but my wife is sooooooooooooooo scared of spiders. She sees sees a wee tiny one in the house and she flips out and runs out the door until I kill it. Don't think she could handle having a tarantula in the house.

I was given a Pterinochilus Murinus Tarantula by a friend a while back. The common name is Usumbara Sunburst Baboon. They are really fast and aggressive, so it isn't a tarantula to hold. It is still a juvenile, and likes to hide, so I don't have any pictures of it yet, but my friend Marcus, who gave it to me, was gracious enough to let me use a picture he took.

I stole all the above from Randy's personal site

Yup, that's it! Common names are also Usumbara Sunburst Baboon or Usumbara Starburst Baboon Tarantula. I keep Lucifer in my bedroom in a Critter Keeper that is about 6" x 6" x 12". I think I may have to bump him/her up to a 10 gallon soon, though. Talk about fast growth! Lucifer was a tiny spiderling in May, when I brought him/her home from Marcus' house. Now his legspan is probably 2" or so.
