Small acts of dishonesty point to someone that can't be trusted in large business transactions. I'm amazed how fast small acts seem to combine and snowball once someone steps forward first (as you pointed out seems to be happening now in the mouse community). This theft doesn't seem so small either if the mouse is that rare and valuable here in the States.

Slim...it is a fairly new gene to the hobby to start with...its only been around for a year or two at all. Its also very expensive to import mammals...this shipment cost $2208, which came out to $50 per animal imported. That's a lot of money...and that's for over 40 animals....it is very difficult to get that many animals ready for a shipment at one time (keep in mind we are breeding show/pet animals and keep our litters small, do not breed our does back to back, and keep fewer animals per cage than most feeder breeders), and the only reason it worked is b/c a lot of people were working together and we had a lot of great breeders in the UK helping us out.

I hate to hear stuff like this. She has always seemed to be an upstanding person with good advice when it comes to ASF's and rodents in general helping out the community. Unfortunately the silence says a lot in these types of situations.

On another forum she hasnt' been silent.....she called me disgusting and whined and moaned, but didn't offer up any sort of defense of her own actions....

    caseycallsmedisgusting by CSBeck, on Flickr

I also did not go in threatening to have her arrested. I went in wanting to trade the animals (give her her buck and get my doe), it was after she refused that I told her I was going to call the cops.

As I said over on Fauna, this act of dishonesty is completely disgusting and her response utterly immature. You very clearly have proof of her misconduct, and others have even stepped forward to corroborate your story. I'm sorry to hear about this. It is always sad to learn that one who was thought of fondly in the community is actually a despicable, dishonest thief.

I hope that somehow you manage to get your mouse back, and that when/if you do, she is still as healthy as the day she arrived.

I'm surprised Casey hasn't posted yet. If she's not going to (wo)man up and deal with the problem, I'd be surprised if anybody on this forum or others did business with her again. In the scheme of things, this is a small problem. However even small things can influence peoples' decision whether or not to conduct business with you.
