New additions: The Pied Trio
These are my latest additions. I picked them up yesterday. I know that it is common for them to try and take a dip in their water bowls at times, but since I put these 3 in their tubs, all 3 have been laying in their water bowls and have not left them so it has been about 10 hours of sitting in water. Is this okay?
Here is my male. He weighs in at about 1800g. A big boy. We named him Specks.
Since he is so big, should he go in a 41q? I currently have him in a 28q.
Here is the female. She is also 1800g. Her name is Patches.
Last but not least, my female het pied. I believe she is around 1100g. Got a little growing to do. Her name is muffin.

If there all laying in there water bowls then I would bet that they have mites. Check them over really good and check the water for dead ones. Check your temps also and make sure there not to high. Hopefully you did not put them with the rest of your collection and have them in quarantine in another room.

Well, unfortunately this time they were correct it is most definately mites. I was not able to check them over before purchase, as they were shipped to me. They were from someone who I was able to check out and seemed to have a good reputation prior to purchase. So naturally, I am a little upset and have just spent the day treating everything and everyone.
I have talked to the seller and he is attempting to make it right, all will be compensation, other than my time unfortunately.
The seller claimed that he had no clue that they had them, and while I somewhat believe him, I am still dumbfounded by how he could not have known. The first thing I noticed when I got them, which is my bad, as it should have clued me in is that you can see a bunch of red specs in their white parts, which I am now assuming are mite bites?

That blows man. Hope they make it right for you. But in this case I rather have mites on a partially white snake where I could see them plain as day haha

Bummer about the mites but that is a very nice group. Love the pieds.

try prevent a mite, its a spray used to kill and prevent mites..
also can use a dab of nix lice shampoo ( has the same active ingredients as prevent a mite). place a dab or two on your hands and rub it on the snakes, then wash off be careful not to get it in their eyes.
another home remedy is a bit of cooking oils, will suffocate the mites but its messy, same as nix try not to get in the eyes and wash off.
i would use either of the 2 remedies but to fully kill and prevent them from spreading i would get the prevent a mite and spray my entire collection and snake room as directed on the lable.
hope that helps. good luck!

Yeah, it is a bummer, defintately not the way i wanted to spend the Saturday, especially since its the wife's b-day, yet at this point I think the seller has made the gestures to make it right. Honestly had I known that they had mites, I probably still would have taken them, just been able to get alittle better deal on them and would have been better prepared.

Forget the cooking oil and Nix. Treat the enclosures with PAM and soak the snakes in water with a drop or two of dish washing liquid to kill the ones on the snakes.
And, don't spray PAM on your collection, i.e. the snakes themselves.
