mouse traps for euthanization?
So i was just wondering why people don't use mouse traps to kill their feeder mice? I mean it's fast and painless and if you don't have very many mice to take care of it won't take tooo long. I would think it'd be better than hitting them against the wall. Of course if you already had a co2 chamber that would be the better option, tho.

That seems like a really bad idea... a CO2 chamber is really easy to make, and costs almost nothing. Might as well just make one. How would you even go about using a mouse trap for this? Seems like it would be terribly difficult/frustrating.

Mouse traps aren't always fast. Depending on the size of the mouse, if the trap snaps on the rear it may take a while to do the job. If you are planning on holding the mouse to aim it you might get bitten. Might as well learn cervical dislocation as an easier way, although frozen would be easier still.

I don't know if you were implying this, but I do not recommend freezing mice as a method of euthanization!

Yeah it seems like it would be difficult to ensure that the trap closes where the spine meets the skull, otherwise you risk a prolonged and painful death. C/D is definitely way easier and quick once you know how to do it.

It would take a long time to kill off a bunch of mice with a trap as well...just making more work for yourself.
