Re: thoughts or experiences with hog island boas

Only other snake I have other than BP's. Mine is a male about 7 Ft now(finally got a nice clean shed I could stretch out). Like everyone else has said their appetite is amazing, Live , F/T. Hell i think he would eat it frozen if i gave it too him. My only problem is getting him back in his tub after I have him out. I got mine from Paul Mitchell PMherps.com about 2 years ago.

That's the norm, but there are always exceptions to the norm.

I've had mine since the end of October. She's an awesome eater and has a great personality. Like someone else said, the most trouble I ever have with her is getting her to detach from me to get her back into her tub. I love how when I check on her in the evening/at night she's all super light and during the day her colors are much more saturated.

If it makes you feel any better I rounded up. I measured his shed about 3 moths ago and it was 6 ft 10 if that makes you feel better. Although you wouldn't think he was that big looking at him. I'm going to attempt cleaning tubs outside today being that it's going to hit 80 again I'll try to snap a few pictures

i was hoping that if the average size was 4-6 and males stay smaller i could be comfy knowing id likely not go over 5 feet.. thanks for the feedback though...

They are generally much smaller and if you feed conservatively males will probably stay under 5ft. By conservatively I mean feed appropriately sized meals once a week until they are about 2-3 years old and them feed them once every 2 weeks.

Hogs are a great little dwarf boa. My female isn't a dumpster like my male and she will only eat live, but they are positively tiny compared to my hypo jungle boas. I wouldn't let one case were someone owns a very large male to scare you away from them.

Theres a possibility that polishpythons isnt a 100% hog island boa and has some colombian or somethin else mixed in somewhere along the bloodline.

x2 but I don't know the breeder or what you bought him as. That just seems like an XXL male to me, but as I said, I don't know details.
