My son prayed last night before bed, and asked God to protect him in heaven...I lost it at that point haha dang kids. Either way, he's in a better place now.
When we lose a pet my daughter prays that they go to heaven and be with my dad. Kinda sad but sweet of her.

Re: Goodbye Nitro
[QUOTE=LGray23;1779250]My mom's 8 year old boxer had to get put to sleep last night. It started about 6 months ago, he started drinking massive amounts of water and having accidents in the house. Testing ruled out bladder and kidney problems and diabetes. Then he started to lose weight. Our 95 lb boy was down to 70 pounds this week Then his eyes got these weird blisters in them, that eventually ruptured so I think he was blind for the last 2 weeks of his life. Then he had a minor stroke which left one of his ears and jowls uneven. I got a call from my mother at 8:30 am yesterday telling me that it was his last day, he had 3 seizures within an hour that morning, and it just wasn't fair to him. The vets believe it was something in his head, but MRI and CAT scan testing costed thousands of dollars, and then what? Cut open an 8 year old dog's head? It wasn't an option. My parents kept him comfortable for his last few weeks going down hill, and he got love every day. He was an embassador for rescue dogs. I will miss him dearly. He was my gentle giant, and one of the only furry critters I liked. Goodbye Nitro

I'm terribly sorry for your loss.
I had two of mine pass in a 12 month span, recently.
It hurts.
Pardon my soapbox hopping but please, everyone with dogs, make sure you get them SNAP 4DX tests at least once a year.
Tick borne diseases are rampant and epidemic now and the symptoms can sound exactly like Nitro's.
I've lost 2 dogs to tick diseases but one of them was detected early and treatment gave him 9 more years with me before Lyme nephritis caught up with him at 14.
The other was my heart dog and the tests weren't available until she was late-stage and her symptoms sounded very much like Nitro's.
Run free and forever young, dear Nitro.

Re: Goodbye Nitro
Poor Nitro.
I'm so sorry for your families loss. Losing a pet like that is in so many ways like losing a child, and no matter how many times you hear "you did the right thing". Even when you know it's the truth it really never gets easier. Yesterday was the 6 month aniversary of the passing of my little princess Ruby. And although there have been many good days in that time; they have all been clouded by the fact that she is not here with us. I wish you and yours my condolences and all the best in this, most difficult of times.

So sad. I hate to read that. I know what that feels like because we found out my little chihuahua has a bad heart and only has a few more years (they think if that long) and she's only 4 now. That sucks but at least he was loved and loved those around him.
