    Vineager + baking soda euthanize

I am about to euthanize a couple of baby rats (about 2 weeks old) using vineager and baking soda to create CO2. I know this works, but I dont know how much I should use. I have a small plastic cup with a hose to the bigger ~3 liter tub (where I place the rats). It is all set and done, but I dont have a clue how much vineager and baking soda that is enough for a 3 liter tub. If anyone is know, please tell me. Thanks ! (:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe 2 week olds may be too young for co2 euthanasia. They have a high resistance to hypoxia and low oxygen. So they have a high chance on surviving the euthanasia process. And since the chemical reaction of baking soda and vinegar is pretty fast, I'm sure they will survive. It's generally said that the most humane way to euthanize pinks is by freezing. I would only use co2 for juveniles and adults.
You can also try flicking their heads. They have paper thin skulls so it would be pretty effective.

Cant you also do it humanely by breaking their necks? You put two fingers behind their head and grab te base of the tail and pull. Ive seen them killed this way but havent done it myself so i have no idea if its humane...

Their tails are too weak at that age. You would probably pull it off....

t weeks you'd probably better off flicking them in the head. Just give them 2 hard flicks and their skulls will be completely crushed, and they'll be dead in no time.

Okay, I see. I have been told to put baby rats in the freezer, but I guess they are too big for that already by 2 weeks? Hm, I will euthanize medium and larger rats in the future with vineager and baking soda. Need to know the amount to euthanize them succesfully. Remember that I will put rats in a ~3 liter air tight tub. Thanks !

I don't recommend putting an age/size rat in the freezer to kill it. It's much more humane to just flick them in the back of the head when they're that young.
