    Excitment then sadness

So, I was super excited because the fed ex fairy came today to delivery 2 babies and they were the first 2 babies I've ever had delivered to me. I opened the first box to find my beautiful baby Mojave boy...

Then I opened the second box excited to see my new beautiful spider het albino girl....and she was dead She overheated. I've got such a sad feeling. I mean I'm glad my Mojave made it but sad my spider overheated in a box. That's a terrible way to go.

Nice mojave! Sorry about your other snake however. How are you sure she overheated? What type of heat packs did they use?

Well, it was coming from a colder place to a warmer place and so he packed it to stay warm but coming here being as hot as it is, it must have overheated. When I opened the box it was extremely hot.

Have you notified the breeder yet of this and did you take pictures of the deceased animal?

That's really unfortunate. If it's not too much trouble, could you post a pic of the overheated box and heat pack?

I usually try to ship on the cool side. I received one shipment of snakes that was delayed in an unheated cargo hold of a plane, and at first I thought they were dead because they were nearly frozen. However, they eventually warmed up and all of them survived.

On the flip side, I've also heard of a lot of snakes dying because of being overheated during shipping.

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully you had a live arrival guarantee and contacted the breeder/shipper. Please let us know how that goes.

Yes, I did notify the breeder and he apologized and said it's never happened before and he should have waited for it to be warmer on his end. He refunded my money but I'm still sad about it.
Here are pictures of the box and the snake.

Thanks for the pictures. I ship very similar to that, but I rarely use more than one heat pack and never taped to the bottom. I think that bottom one is what did it. I'm sorry for your loss, but congrats on your mojave.

Sorry about the Spider, she was a real looker. And, thank you for posting those pics so we can all learn a little more. I know that couldn't have been easy.

I can only hope that very HOT little Mojo will brighten your day. That little dude has a beautiful pattern and coloration!
