Thinking about AP Sterilite 1860/1960 Series

Was talking to a buddy this morning & he told me he ordered a Sterilite 1860/1960 Series the 6tub for $390 + $75 shipping. I was debating on possibly ordering one to replace my homemade on I built. It seems that it would allow them more stable temps & offer them a more secure feeling.

My only concern is the air flow in the closed design, last summer my tubs were 60-70% humidity with the open design homemade rack & about 60 holes per tub & a ceiling fan running 24/7.

Also I couldn't find any info but with the belly heat option using flexwatt is it one single piece just snaked around, or multiple pieces daisy chained?

I was debating on possibly building a closed design out of xpvc but after pricing materials to build a 6 tub, it would be just a little more to just buy it already made & it would look a lot better too im sure!

    Thanks!

AP's products are top notch. I can't help with your humidity question, but I am fairly certain that AP racks use a single piece of Flexwatt.

All in all I highly recommend Animal Plastics (I don't have any of their racks yet but I have 5 of their PVC cages and love them... built like tanks)

Re: Thinking about AP Sterilite 1860/1960 Series

I have two Animal Plastics racks, one a 9-slot rack and the other a two-pieced 8-slot rack. The 9-slot rack has a single piece of 3" Flexwatt wound through channels cut in the bottoms and sides of the XPVC. It's kind of hard to explain but it basically "s's" through the rack and supplies belly heat to the tubs. The other rack I have is two 4-slot sections and uses back heat. They're both excellent racks and are worth every penny of their price. You can't beat them for durability or customer service. Hope that helps and good luck, whatever you decide.

I've used several of that particular series, and have had no issues with them. They do use one piece of flexwatt. I never had to drill holes in any of my tubs - for me the clearance was plenty to keep good airflow without condensation.
