Using a new auto water system....

Ive just installed a new automatic water system for my rat rack purchased from Reptile Basics...

So my questions is: How long usually does it take for the rats to realize its a water source and not bury it with their bedding?

When i went from bottles to the water valves, I slowly weaned them off the bottles till I noticed water levels in the system was dropping.

Usually takes a few days for them to realize it. Once they learn it, they will teach others how to use it.

Just press valve in every tub and drop of wather will stay on it. They should figure it out on the same day. At least mine did You can do this few times in first day.

Cool Lid or No Lid..That is my next Q? lol

Okay...just thought I would ask, also when using a 5 gallon bucket (orange bucket purchased from Home Depot) should I use a lid or leave it open?

    Thanks!

Don't worry they will find the water almost instantly.

I use lids to keep dust and debris out of the bucket...You have to drill a few small holes around the top of the bucket though...Can't be air tight or the water won't flow.

Don't worry too much. They can smell the water.
