Please don't use non-reptile treatment on reptiles! A friend of mine did that and ended up with a ball python with neurological trouble. Most Petcos now carry Reptile Relief or you can buy Pro-Vent-A-Mite online. Both are good products and should do the job for you. Also, it would be a good idea, if you're not already, to put him on a paper substrate to make it easier to spot mites in the cage.

    Re: mites!!!!!!!!!!!!

My cali king has a mite problem too. I give him baths in warm water, apply vaseline occassionally, and use Reptile Relief (i think thats what its called). He's been doing a lot better than when I got him (in november), but the mites still haven't left. There's not much else you can do to get rid of them than what I've done. I don't think he really appreciates what I'm trying to do for him seeing as I've been bitten a few times while trying to get rid of them. He's even bitten himself! Is there a such thing as a snake phsycologist?
Just keep trying and they'll go away eventually.

Actually, they won't ... the mites will continue to breed, lay eggs, and reappear.

I agree with Marla ... Provent-a-Mite is hands down the most effective way for treating mites available. Check out http://www.mgreptiles.com/proventmite.html ... it'll be the best money you've ever spent if your snake has a mite problem.

Non sense like baths, vaseline, mineral oil, etc only provide temporary relief, but they do not kill the mites eggs ... as soon as they hatch, the mites are back. Get Provent-a-Mite!!!!

    Hope this helps.
