    Keeping 1.2 together question.

For those of you that keep 1.2 or more rats together, do you let the females get pregnant immediately after giving birth? If not how do you prevent that?

I keep 1.3 per tub and don't remove pregnant females. I need my rats producing as much as possible. After some trial and error, this is my preferred method & get the most bang for my buck.

I separate because I get fatter and healthier rat babies that way, but if I only had a 1.2 group I'd probably just let them stay together.

    I keep 1.2 together.

I have some awesome male rats. They help clean the babies and keep them warm. One of my males, Scabby, lets them pile all over him and chew on his ears.

    Re: Keeping 1.2 together question.

I keep 1.3 and separate when females get pregnant. I get healthier and fatter babies, this is base on my experience and what I prefer.

I do 1.2 up to 1.6 and never take females out. Since most my females drop 12-22 pinks consistently from selective breeding.

Doing this keeps my freezer stocked and snakes fat.
