    New Spider!

    Well,
I've been away from the reptile hobby for over a year.
Some of you might remember me from awhile back, I finally joined here after I got a few new reptiles after my Bearded Dragon died after being basically perfectly healthy.
A few things have happened since then, one of my old roommates sabotaged my regular ball python, snickers, while I was away for work (out of state), but was too scared of kaiden (my colombian red-tail) to mess with him. A few weeks before that my ex took domino (our leopard gecko) with her.
Not but 3-6 months later domino (less than a year old) "disappeared" from it's enclosure according to my ex. So... All I was left with was kaiden. about a year and a half later I had moved to a very amazing condo on Biscayne Bay, which reptiles weren't allowed and kaiden had to stay in my father's office for awhile. In this time the cleaning lady turned off the heat and he basically froze.
So after all the tragedy I stepped away for awhile, I couldn't have another one until I got it all together I guess.
Recently I found a great deal on this spider ball python, he's still pretty young and I got him for $200 including the new 40G breeder enclosure with some of the interior stuff and the heat lamp.
I removed all of the sand and everything he had in the enclosure. Completely cleaned and disinfected the enclosure and accessories (1 part bleach, 10 parts water and baked the accessories) and got some new aspen bedding. Glad to be back and now I have to figure out a name for my new little buddy (I might have one, but I'm not sure about it). I have a heating pad and a new thermometer/hygrometer on the way.
Well, I'm finished with my life story. On to the pictures.

Pardon the water spots, I had just misted the enclosure a bit.

No roommates now, just me. So I'm not worried about it.
Once the new heating pad and thermometer come in I will be making some more homemade hides and interior stuff.
He's going to get decked out. I plan to probably wait about a year or so and possibly breed him, but right now I'm just enjoying hanging out with him. lol

    Definitely.
After the colombian incident I threw away my 75 gallon tank, 20 gallon tank and 10 gallon tank, all the interior accessories, heating pads, thermometers, everything.
I got lucky and found one of my newtek/zilla temperature controllers, I guess I threw the other ones away as well.
    One will do for now.

I would try to get a better thermostat if you are going to use a UTH. I use herpstats and they are great but will cost $99. You can get a hydrofarm on amazon for $30 but they aren't as good as herpstats.

The combination of the thermometer w/ probe and this thermostat has proved pretty steady success for me in the past with temperatures. Temperatures might vary 1-2degrees, but not usually.
I live in South Florida so it's normally warm anyways and I don't keep my place too cold anyways.
In the past with this setup I haven't had problems with heat or humidity at all.
If I notice any inconsistency there will be a change made though.
I can't wait for my stuff to come in, I'm not even sure the exact temp of the enclosure right now but I'm positive it's above 80 and below 90.
I'm bringing a temp thermometer from work tomorrow to suffice until the new one and heating pad come in. I'm not too fond of having a flood light for heat for snakes, all my stuff should come in by the end of this week.
To get anything locally I would spend a fortune. A SMALL (4x8) heating pad usually goes for $15-25 down here, even in the reptile specialty stores (There are about 4-5 within 10 miles of me).
