    Rrrr... frustrated shopping...

I guess that the only way you can get quality herp supplies is to shop online. I guess it's probably cheaper to buy stuff directly anyway, but I just don't want to wait for it! Every pet store in my area carries Zoo-Med exclusively like it's a great product. All it's got going for it is nice looking packaging. And it's expensive for the quality that you get! I even tried Craigslist, but nothing. I am meeting with the guy who is going to build my rack on Saturday, and he said he just needs a t-stat and heating. I want to get a better one before I install it to my brand new rack... I had the same problem when we had mites, I was so wishing that some store carried PAM so that I wouldn't have to wait a week- but only Zoo-Med! Why doesn't anyone carry quality supplies? (Sorry, just a little rant...)

Well your primary reason for that is most people are not going to spend the money on it. People that come into pet shops usually have one or 2 reptiles and selling them flexwatt heating like what you would need for you rack is not going to happen and flexwatt in the hands of alot of people is dangerous....As far as real thermostats, again it sounds bad, but most people care little enough about the reptiles as pets you tell them they need a $50+ thermostat and they are not going to buy. I used to build dimmer switches wired into extension cords and sell them at the pet store

And this is if you're even lucky enough to find a crappy ZooMed at a chain store. None of the Petsmarts or Petcos within 30 minutes of me sell thermostats, but they all sell the ZooMed UTH...scary.

Rich at Reptile Basics ships very fast and has great customer service. Try him and see what happens. I think you will be happy.
Too many snakes to list. Ball pythons, Gtp's and Boa's. It easier to say it that way.

x3 me too. Never had a bad experience. Got all my flexwatt from him.

As for the thermostat, I bought a Herpstat and just went through the list of online vendors that Spyder Robotics has on their page and chose then one that had the cheapest price...sometimes you can find free shipping specials or sales.

Thanks alot, to all! I was just getting a little frustrated and wanted to vent a bit... I had to call 5 different local pet stores back when before even finding the piece of crap thermostat that I have. How is this not a basic essential? Even a crappy one is better than none.

To JJMitchell: I'm not so certain that flexwatt in my hands isn't a dangerous thing, but I am getting professional help...
