    My questions

I currently keep my bp in a 71 quart rubbermaid clever storage (#3Q33) on paper towels with a warm and cold hide, with a water dish. I currently am not able to measure humidity, but my temps are 90-92 on the warm side via UTH. I am also unable to measure the cold side at this time.

    1. Is my setup good? Is there anything I should add?

My snake, for the first two feedings, pounded down his meals great. Since then, he hasn't ate anything on his own. He has actually become afraid of live food and frozen food alike, and runs away from them. I have, after about almost two and a half months, assist fed him both a medium mouse and a small rat (he put away first a weaned rat and then a small rat his first two solo feeds when I got him). Tonight, however, he threw up something that resembles a small body (the medium mouse, maybe? But that was assist fed first) and then diarrhea'd all over his cage with a gentle massage (he had a sausage tail going). I did a deep clean on his cage and furniture and gave him a soak in the tub.

    2. Is there anyway to get him out of this afraid of live food syndrome?
    3. Is there anything I should be concerned about with the diarrhea?

    Thanks in advance!

You should give us size/weight of snake...the more you can tell us, the more we can help you.

You need to know your temperatures and humidity. Your guy could just be off feed, rather than afraid of food...generally not a big concern. I wouldn't have assist(or force) fed at this point. The diarrhea can be a concern...I had a male that had an internal bacterial infection that caused him to have diarrhea and bloody stool. A visit to the vet and some Baytril fixed him up pretty quickly.

Not at all suggesting that this could be what's wrong, that's just my experience with bp's and runny stool.

Is the UTH regulated? How are you measuring the hot side temps?

I would recommend a temp gun to measure direct hot and cold spots: I got mine from Lowes for $30

I would be worried about the regurge and the diarrhea: those are not normal and a healthy BP shouldn't show those symptoms. Though, sometimes poop when just passed does look runny and an odd color (sometimes yellowish), and looks different after it firms up and dries out.

Also, there's no reason to assist feed unless the BP has lost a significant (deadly) amount of weight: how much weight did he loose in the time he wasn't eating? They can go months without eating and be fine, though I like my babies eating like pigs to pack on weight. How old/big is your BP (in grams)?

Seems it's only a 30 qt. Went a measured everything, and 71 is huge compared to the tub I've got.

Haha that sounds more like it.

And you really should get proper readings on your temps/humidity, if your husbandry is off that could be part of the reason he's off feed. And assist feeding at this point sounds like it's just gonna add more stress to the situation and do more harm than good.

Its common for them to go off feed for months at a time, especially this time of year so just monitor weight loss before deciding to take as drastic measure as that.

When I first got him, he was 25 inches long and weighed 376g. As of two days ago, he was 27 inches and down to 249g.

That sounds like a dehydration issue as well, if you can get us some pics of him.

That's a lot of weight to lose in 2+ months, basically 1/3 of its body weight...I'd be scheduling a vet visit.
