3' Melamine Rack for 28qt tubs

Following the excellent directions in the two Sticky threads on this forum I built my own 28 qt. rack out of melamine last night. I didn't have the room or the need (yet) for a 4' version so I cut it down to 3' to fit the space I had available. I used two rows of Flexwatt wired separately so I could use both in the winter and only one in summertime. It took my wife and I about 4 1/2 hours to build and we're both pretty pleased with how it came out. Thanks to the original posters of this design for showing the way.

    Here are some pics.

    and all put together:

The snakes haven't moved in yet. I need to get the thermostat set right first. I adjusted it this morning so hopefully it'll be right when I get home and I can start moving critters in. I also need to grab some more bedding as the two bags I bought only did 4 tubs. They're bigger than I though they were.

I'm pretty excited about this as it only leaves on snake (Jerome my JCP) in an aquarium and I still have 5 open tubs....

i have a melamine rack that is built in a similar way. my only suggestion is to buy some more melamine and add dividers to the shelves or you WILL have sagging in not too long.
it looks great and you did a great job. that would be my only real "must add" but i would also suggest adding castors to a 2x4 frame and attach the whole frame to the botton of teh rack. this will make moving it much easier.

Thanks Adam. I actually have scraps left over I can use for dividers since they don't have to go all the way. I just don't have them cut & installed yet as the priority is to get the snakes into the rack for easier/better husbandry. And as for casters, they're in the plan. But they're going to go on the one I build next that this one will sit on top of for 41 quart tubs for females. I think I could do it now though. Let me think on it. LOL
