Hissing Roaches and mites
I read something that said that all or most hissing roaches have mite colonies that live on them to help prevent mold growth on the roaches, and these mites are beneficial to their health.
Is this true?
Do these mites migrate off the roaches and into rodent bedding, on rodents, etc?
I'm planning on picking up a small colony of hissing roaches tomorrow morning, and I want to make sure I'm not going to shoot myself in the foot with these guys.
IDK if they have these mites or not, but I don't want to bring anything into my house that may contaminate my other feeders.
My first guess is species specific, but I just want to make sure.

Im pretty sure this is a false statement. I have a colony of hissers and i have never seen or encountered mites in their enclosure. And my dominant male is gigantic, if he had mites im sure i would have spotted them.
Are you getting them as pets or feeders? Cause if your getting them as feeders just get dubias, their easier to care for and breed.

Eh, getting them just to have something new to breed.
I plan on getting dubias when I have setups.
Can you suggest good reading material/videos on breeding both roaches?
Thanks!

Actually the Mites that you are speaking of are true. They are cleaners of the fugus and mold that is found on The hissers and will cause no issues with them.I have been breeding hisses and other feeders for over 12 years and never really had any issue with those mite jumping over to the Rodents. Some Mites are specific to there host.
