    Priorities?

So I made myself laugh earlier when a client at my clinic came in and said she just spent $2,500 on a pure breed english bulldog puppy. I at first thought of calling her crazy, but then I realized that if I had the money I would totally drop $15k on a banana.....or car mod parts without thinking.

Does anyone else have different priorities when it comes to spending money on hobbies/animals?

If I go to the grocery store and I see something for $2 more than another grocery store, I won't purchase it. However, I will happily drop $60 on a new bottle of automotive airbrush paint, or a new scrapbook, or (what I'm doing now) saving up to buy my first two snakes in 2012... They're certainly not normals (a pied and an albino).

.... Lets not even get into what I'd spend on Cresties... Or tank decor!

Whatever hobby or interest I have I don't mind dropping as large a sum of money on. I never thought that I would spend a few grand on a single snake. Yet I have, and know that I will do it again. I enjoy a good cigar, and have spent over $200.00 for a single stick. People ask why I would do it. Well it is because it is what I love.

I will feed my animals before myself if it means I eat nothing but rice for a few days LOL. I freak out when my phone bill is $100 extra but don't care if I have to drop an extra $100 on rats or bedding LOL.. Snake people are weird people!

I just find it funny what we would rather blow our savings on. My gf could easily spend $5k on a crap load of clothes and not even think about it, but she thinks I'm crazy for wanting a single het puma for the same price (mind you this is an example, I'm a student, we don't have cash like that ). She is my business partner though and realizes its a great investment down the road, so evebtually ill have one.

I live on my own (now with my boyfriend) and support my son 100%, those are my priorities. If I have the leftover money I would spend it on more snakes, racks, tarantulas etc if I can afford it at the time.

I go bills, supplies (reptile then mom's cats) , my girlfriend (4thesnakelady), then I might worry about myself.
I had family look at me like I am crazy for spending 32 bucks on rat food and bedding, but think it not odd to spend over 40 bucks on cat food for only about 3 weeks worth.

By priorities I meant with your saved hobby money, not where each check goes. If it was that way it would be this, car payment, loan payment, gas gas gas, animal supplies, gf, then me. I dpnt really have the I
option to save much these days with my new car...
but I needed it, my old car wouldn't have made it much further
