Can someone explain what hypo is?

I got husbandry down but morph names and stuff I'm still working on. I spend all my time in the care of BPs cause that is more important then just general knowledge of morphs. And what is duw now that I'm thinking about things I don't get. Thanks and sorry if it seems stupid. But I always feel that the stupid thing is not to ask.

Being medical I think hypo and think low amount or lack there of. But of what? Or is it something totaly diff?

Hypos are also known as ghosts. Hypo is short for hypomelanistic, so they are lacking in dark pigments.

Hypomelanism is the reduction of black pigment that the snake produces, which gives a 'washed out' appearence. This helps to put a totally new look to other morphs when combined. Check out 'World of ball pythons' morph list
