Hardwood Pellets for rodent bedding ?

Has anyone tried hardwood pellets for rodent bedding ?? I'm in a bit of a dilemma in that out local TSC is out of Equine Fresh and it may not be in for a few days. Well, of course I could really use it today Anyhow they do have plenty of pelletized hardwood design for wood burning and it is currently about $2.00 less than Equine fresh. Will this work and is it safe? Unfortunately it does not define exactly what types of wood are in it other than being made of Hardwoods.

pellets are fine but need t watch around pinkies cause when the stuff get wet it become tacky and can get stuck around there nose and stop them from breathing... Other wise the stuff is great sometime i do a mix of hafe and hafe pellets to shavings
