ASF Newbie Cage Question
Ok, I'm going to give this a try soon. Am I better constructing a cage out of a Tub like the sticky, or using a 10 gallon tank with a screen top?

how many are you planning on breeding? I think that would answer your question... How much are you wanting to spend?
ASF's are escape artists, so just keep that in mind.

Thanks did you use ties to hold the mesh on top? Is the wood on both sides?

I'd like to try a 1.4 to start, maybe 2 colonies after a while. I only have 4 BP's now.
Thanks

No thats actually just some scrap baseboard from a reno.. Stapled the mesh through the plastic to the wood on the top. That way no ties or plastic for the rats to get to. I was told to install a washer on the water bottle hole but never did and havent had an issue.

give it time.... and all those beautiful raised ridges too! You do have tons of play things for them, that's good, but when the population goes up so do the problems...
Keep them busy!
As for breeding, yes, they take forever to start... then you wish they'd stop!

The one time I thought 'oh it'll be okay to leave my ASFs in plastic just for the night' they chewed out and ran all over the animal room.
