Smallish 1st Time female...... 8 eggs, No slugs!

I was just happy to see my pastel looking like she had eggs, I guessed she had 5 when i felt her belly, guess i missed a few. also this is my first shot at a double visual morph.

She was first introduced to my lesser a little over 1300 grams, she was over 2 years old at the time. She ate pretty well i'd say for a gravid female. A week late on her "lay date" but she gave me 8 good eggs. One looks small, one has a half boob thing going on, and another has an off color spot. I see no reason that they all won't go full term right now. I guess ill find out how they progress. Now the eggs are cooking and she sitting there back at 1295 grams lol.

while most suggest to breed bigger, this should still prove there is no perfect formula with these guys and most likely never will be, their going to do what their going to do. My 2000 gram 4 year old girl only laid 6 eggs this year and the year before.

This gives me hope. All 3 of my girls are smallish. They range from 1220 to 1600. All are several years old. We'll see what happens when I put them with my pastel.

Well its not the problem whether or not a 1000g female CAN lay eggs its that the extra weight is healthy. When breeding a female can lose 500-1000g depending on the snake. If you have a female under 1500g you run the risk of problems, like egg binding. Another reason why they should be 3 years old as well. They need to be mature and strong enough to create and pass eggs. Its to save your snake problems. IMO

But congrats on the eggs they look good, now give that female rest and get her on feed again!

My smallest het albino girl layed this year and she was 1620 and and '07 she went all the way down to 749 grams after she laid. Needless to say I'm gonna get her over the 2k mark if I can before I breed her next time, I dont like how much she dropped. But congrats on the clutch.
