finally shed.. sort of.

so my pastel finally shed for the first time for me. sorta.. haha. half his body has yet to shed. should i just maintain humidity and wait for him to fully shed. or should i soak him? this is the first shed i am dealing with.

and also i posted a picture. in this state is ok to feed?

he should finish the shed himself but im mine still has big chunks left on 24 hrs after he actually started then i soak him and let him run through a rag and it comes right off. and its really up to the snake if it wants to eat in shed. mine has never refused food no matter how far into the cycle he is. its all about your pets preference.

I would soak him. Place him in lukewarm water ( check temps with a tempgun or outdoor thermometer ) around 80 - 82 degrees and let him soak for a while. Be careful not to put too much water in the container . You only want him to soak, not swim. Too much water could drown your snake if he tires from moving around in whatever you soak him in.

After about an hour the skin should come off very easily on its own or you might let him crawl through your hands with a damp cloth around his body. This should do the trick.

I would wait till he gets that un-shed skin off before feeding him.

Whether or not to soak is up to you. Since it's a big strip and not little flakes it will probably come off on its own within the next day, but soaking would ensure that it all comes off in one piece. And as to feeding, all snakes are different, he might eat or he might not want to if he is uncomfortable. You can try if you want, but imo you might as well wait for him to finish the shed.
