    Do I even need?

Do I even need a uth and a heat lamp? I have both but uth is too hot untill I get a t-stat. W/o the uth, in the mornin the tank is round 70 on the coolside. Is that ok? At what temp does it stress the snake out or hurt it? I'm just confused about this. Any helP is appreciated

I would ditch the heat lamp, but you do need an under tank heater.

What are you using to measure your temps?

    Get that thermostat asap.

If your hotside maintains around 92 then usually the cool side is a fine temp, but 70 seems a bit low, what are your ambient temps?

Tub or tank? Tubs are easier.

    Re: Do I even need?

    Hi,

    yes you do.

I would try and keep the tank above 75f at a minumum if I'm honest.

Buy a lamp dimmer until you get the thermostat - it will need a lot of checking and adjusting but it's better than the snake not being able to digest or getting sick because the temps are too low.

I just got a temp gun from work today so haven't got to use it except at lunch and those other readings were from temp gauge stuck to side of the tank so I may be just gettin the glass temp and not the inside temp. I will check in the mornin and I may cover up part of the lid w some cardboard paper . Think that would help? And ambient temp means air temp right?

It might help humidity, but definitely get a dimmer until you a thermostat or get one right away ... ambient temp I referred to is air temp in the room the snake is in.

Well see I didn't get the uth untill thurs and I noticed the snake was always way high on branches n when I took the temp gun hone the surface area above uth was 100 plus so I unplugged it. And now that people have been telling me that the temp gauges r crappy I may have been takin all my readings from the glass and not the ground or even the air temp inside the cage so I just need to chill and keep an eye on it w the gun and maybe move the gauges onto the substrate and go from there. Thank you everyone who tried to help

Yep.. just get that thermostat and use the temp gun and you'll be good to go. I would just ditch the gauges and use the gun
