Non-grounded outlets and thermostats?

So I will be bringing my lesser back to my new house in the next couple of days, but wanted to be sure of one thing. The outlets in this house are all non-grounded (2-prong). I was going to just use the 2-3 prong converter, plug in a powerstrip with a surge protector, and then connect everything. Is this the safest/ only way to bypass this?

you'll be fine. my sisters house is the same way. 2 prong outlets throughout the house. They use the adapters where needed without any problems.

The center plate screw is allso a ground connection (if the house is a three wire building) so this is required for the surge strip to work .
If the house is a two wire building ( like my mother in law's house) then the surge strip then is just an extension cord (with no ground).

I always wondered that, I just use the hole to keep the adapter in the wall lol

No, they are not the same.
Green wire connects to the metal box (on a 2 prong outlet with a 3 wire building)

Yup Harry has this one. I'd add that personally I'd get a continuity tester and check the screw is actually making contact with the side of the box some screws are coated and the connections isn't great you really want the best connection you can get. Be careful there are live wires there best to pull the breaker and check!
