    Need Help Identifying Boa !

I need some help Identifying this boa. I was told it was a pastel, however i'm not 100% sure. The boa is a female and is eating large/xlarge rats. Not sure her age, but if I had to guess 2 years. Could you all give me some input and also about what price range would she sell for. (Can't do anything about what I paid now, but just want to see about how much she is worth). Thanks!

I don't follow boas very closely, but definitely wouldn't consider that a Pastel. Just a common Colombian. Not sure why so speckled though. May have some other blood in it somewhere.

Yea thats why I was asking. I am more into the ball pythons, and I was told this was a pastel. When looking more into it, I didn't see the resemblance.

Re: Need Help Identifying Boa !

Looks like a normal BCI to me. Pastel isn't quite the same in BCI's as it is in BP's. It's a line bred trait but not a a codominate trait. Some normals have a bunch of speckling and some don't. Just one of those variable things like the amount of white on spiders or pieds.

That is not a pastel or jungle boa. Pastel is an appearance not a morph. Pastels were created by selective breeding of certain normal snakes in oder to get the least amount of specklin which this snake clearly has a lot of. Normal common boas can have a lot of speckling. Jungle is a morph and looks nothing like that. Jungle's typically have a broken spear on their head (not always) have a cream color and their tales have a creamy color to them that is enchanced around the black outlines. Nothing in that snake says jungle. Congrats on picking up a normal boa that is just beautiful. When I get to my computer, I will post a couple pictures of jungles and normal. I love my boas .

The pastel picture posted previously is definitely a pastel boa. Here are some pictures of my normal. While my normal isn't a pastel, he is very close to being one. As you can tell, normals all look different.

Here are a few pictures of my jungles. You can clearly see the difference between them and my normal.

    This is my boy:

Here is my female jungle. She is considered low expression because she doesn't have the pattern aberrancies. She has the color though, the creaminess in her tail, and the broken spear head.

I even love that fact she has a blueish tint to her eyes!

Alright, sorry for all the pictures. I take tons of pictures of all my animals. I hope this helps with telling the difference between a normal and a jungle.

Thanks for all the information! I've had this girl for a while and unfortunately am going to have to let her go. We have got all our Balls up and running and ready to breed this fall, and I just dont have the space for her. I wanted to make sure that the person who got her knows what she is. I wouldn't want to tell them it's something its not (clearly what someone did to me). About how much would you say she could go for? I don't want to cheat someone on prices and I'm not really sure, I know what I paid for her but that was under the assumption she was a pastel. She was also smaller then. Thanks everyone for your help!!!
