Misting Your BP?

Me again!

So, should I lightly mist Reznor? I thought I'd ask because the thought of scale rot bugs me... however, his bedding is so dry and dusty. Even with a water bowl, I'm not sure it should be quite so dry..

What is the humidity in the enclosure?

Is he in shed? If not that's ok to not mist while the scale rots going on. I had some rescues here awhile back with rot and the vet had me not misting so that we didnt have more issues. When they shed I had no issues. Because we had to give the betadyne soaks.

Reznor doesn't actually have scale rot, I'm just wanting to prevent it.
He just shed the other day, if it helps. :3

Oh ok I see. Sorry I thought he had scale rot. Mist 1 x a day and you'll be fine if it dries out really quickly you could do another misting. But that all depends on your set up. Some dry out quicker than others.

I use a very very fine mist mister and just use a light coat to keep the substrate from being too dusty. If you had a complete shed and the humidity is stable you likely don't need to mist much at all. Just even now and agin to keep the dust down.

Scale rot is not simply caused by wet conditions but also by filth, it is the loose equivalent of trench foot. Constantly wet and then the introduction of bacteria and you have rot. It takes time just don't mist enough to wet the substrate, just damp.
