    a first for me

I've been keeping herps for almost 20 years and this is the first time i've had to worry about air conditioning for tropical snakes. but thanks to the gross heat wave in sothern ontario as of late i needed to put an air conditioner in the herp room because without it the ambient temps would have been well over 100. i sudenly find myself whishing for winter again lol.

    Re: a first for me

Same here. These past couple of days I've had to use my air conditioning to keep the temps low enough for my little rainbow boa. It's wonderful for my bp (who's in a separate room), her ambient is sitting at a comfortable 83F at the moment and I haven't had to use her heat lamp at all which is nice... but the rest of my snakes (and my gecko) were all laying around fanning themselves

I love summer, and I'll take this over 5 feet of snow any day, but yeah, a happy medium would be nice.

It was absolutely disgusting yesterday! I feel for everyone who doesn't have air conditioning. I don't have air conditioning at my house, so I fled to my parents house yesterday and will remain here until the nightmare is over!

I feel for everyone back east it's got to be brutal
We have yet to have even one 90 degree day this year and many people have been complaining about that, until they saw the heat wave hit and now most of us are pretty happy with our 70 degree "summer" so far

Please don't bring that stuff to the Northwest

Yesterday it hit 49 (120F) with the humidity added on to the 38 (100F)ish actual temperature.
Today its only supposed to be 33, with a humidex of 38. (I can't believe I used the word ONLY in that sentence)!

I wonder if there were any deaths yesterday?

    Re: a first for me

my wife loves the heat but even she's reached her limit. it was 48 or 119 in my back yard yesterday. and even with the ac blasting i haven't had a decent nights sleep in days. my poor old 16 year old dog was up wondering around bumping in to things most of last night. ca-mon rain
