Sorry, I guess I didn't clarify my question.

Does it work well with taking the smell away? I'm interested in something that's not crazy expensive (I'm a college kid! haha) but that is worth my money and will work. You said this Lightning Air Purifier works well with the smell of rats? What make do you have(if there is multiple)? How often do you run it?

    Thanks!

Why not just spend $25 for a 20" box fan & a 20" filter? It works really good and cheap!

F10 does make an odour eliminator spray. maybe this is a cheaper version to spray once a day?

I have wondered about smell. I don't have my snakes yet but I'm preparing for them. Does a Ball Pythons' poop stink up a room or is it pretty mild? How often do they go to the bathroom generally?

Also, if you feed them frozen thawed rodents and they eat them pretty soon do the rodents still leave a smell or is it just live ones that people keep that smell?

Do Ball Pythons have any sort of musk that they emit?

Do most people with snakes need some sort of air purifyer or is it not really that bad?

No bps do not smell at all. They cannot musk, Im almost positive only colubrids do, not pythons/boas. Some poop once a week after you feed them, some go twice a week, some go once a month, it just depends on the snake. If you thaw out the f/t in your room, yes it will smell but not terribly bad forever. I think most of the people talking about getting an air filter, breed their own rodents and thats the smell theyre worried about or being bothered by.

I know this is old, but since I was reading some posts about ionizers, I would be careful. There is a warning on every purifier with an ionizer that it's not save for small animals. Since snakes have primitive respiratory systems, I would not use an ionizer. I do run a purifier myself in the snake room, but not for the snakes-the rats are in there, the snakes really don't smell unless you don't clean their cages.

Yeah rats smell bad, but mice smell AWFUL.

It won't hurt the snake, but will hopefully keep the scent down. Only problem I can see is that the fan blows the rat smell towards the snakes...
